How can we develop artistic and curatorial strategies involving (urban) society in novel ways? What new practices can open mono-artistically oriented institutions to the process of transgressing genre lines and institutional fixation? How can they move into and with the city? How can decision-making and responsibilities be divided in new and different ways? How and where are forms of collaboration practiced that encompass the arts as well as other fields of knowledge and concerns of urban societies? How can urban cultural institutions and self-constituted spaces as well as initiatives outside of urban centres find new objectives and forms of collaboration by communicating with agents concerned? To start the discussion on all the above questions, this conference gathers contributions by artists, theorists, curators, dramaturges, and artistic directors.
