TAKE A CLOSER LOOK –
From 15 March to 12 April, it’s imagetanz time again! For four weeks, the festival presents new positions in choreography and performance. At brut nordwest, studio brut, WUK performing arts, Bears in the Park Art Place, FLUCC Deck and Palais Rössl, international and local artists and collectives will present a diverse programme with world and Austrian premieres, workshops and much more.

For the opening, Stina Fors invites the unpredictable onto the stage. SPÖKA is a reflection on what we do when no one is watching - or when all eyes are on us. In her ‘five-person solo’ First Person Plural, Imani Rameses focuses on the elusive nature of the self as an embodied practice. With extravagance and subtle humor, the duo maria mercedes (Julia Maria Müllner and Camilla Mercedes Schielin) combines the life cycle of a rose with the history of gossip in shining rose – with live audio description on 28 March. gergő d. farkas explores the body as a landscape in motion in mama and creates a choreographic space in which sensuality becomes a form of experience that goes beyond the human body. Between music, performance and visual art, Hyeji Nam’s MANSHIN explores the ever-changing relationship between humans and technology in the post-digital age. In Reverse Cowgirl II: Ride To The Top, Ariadne Randall negotiates social prejudices and beauty norms with McKenzie Wark and Nis Brender. McKenzie Wark has written her own text for the performance. For the finale, Björn Säfsten approaches the feeling of loss in Lost Night and humorously and tenderly creates dreams in which the night is constantly present.
In the series brut accessible, Cleidy Acevedo & Helena Araújo offer a workshop on the topic of mental load, Katharina Senk / Senki & Theresa Scheinecker / Ray invite blind and visually impaired people to dance and share a pizza and Angela Alves gives an input on resting and quitting as a resistant practice.
As part of Handle with care, this year’s Huggy Bears artists will show the first excerpts from their rehearsal processes and Deborah Hunt will create masks with workshop participants. Parties, a tactile tour, a book presentation and talks complete the programme.
