Anastasiia Vorobiova is an artist originally from Ukraine, currently based in Vancouver, working across digital media, virtual reality, and theatrical performance. Her practice explores the relationship between human consciousness and the virtual body, with a focus on cyberfeminism, avatar–body dynamics, actual and virtual spaces, myth, philosophy, and spirituality. She holds a Master’s degree from the Faculty of Design at the Kyiv National University of Technologies and Design.
The political upheaval in Ukraine in 2014 marked a turning point in Vorobiova’s artistic trajectory, redirecting her practice toward new media and leading to experimental work with sound, video, and digital imagery. In 2016, she participated in the Gaude Polonia program, completing an artistic residency during which she created Solaris, a significant media project combining installation and digital art.
Since 2018, Vorobiova has been deeply engaged in integrating VR technologies into theatrical productions. She has been invited to develop performances and digital stage environments for institutions including the Zygmunt Hübner Powszechny Theatre in Warsaw, the National Stary Theatre in Kraków, Theater Freiburg, and brut Wien (Vienna). Alongside her artistic work, she has lectured on VR and immersive technologies for theatre students at institutions such as the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Academy of Dramatic Art in Warsaw and the Academy of Theatre Arts.
Her multimedia installations and performances have been presented internationally at venues and festivals including Arsenał Gallery (Białystok), Cricoteka and Bunkier Sztuki (Kraków), Mystetskyi Arsenal (Kyiv), TRAFO Center for Contemporary Art, Vox Electronica (Kyiv), Audio Art Festival (Kraków), Maxim Gorki Theater (Berlin), KREISGalerie (Nuremberg), StudioXYZ (Vancouver), and SODA Manchester (School of Digital Arts, Manchester Metropolitan University).
