Alix Eynaudi - Chesterfield

On the premises of the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art, Viennese choreographer Alix Eynaudi shows a dance piece oscillating between choreography and performance-based exhibition. Together with five other artists, she entangles the audience in a labyrinth of signs and materials, creating a patchwork of sensual rhythms, music, light and poetry.

For this piece entitled Chesterfield, the dancers draw their inspiration from Victorian plant books and the museums’s collection, including fire-painted leather objects, punched masks or fine carvings on animal skin. Based on these various sources of inspiration, they collage the piece Chesterfield, in which their bodies appear like dancing words and signs.

Choreographer/dancer Alix Eynaudi lives and works in Vienna. She completed her training to become a ballet dancer at the Opéra national de Paris and studied contemporary dance at PARTS in Brussels. For seven years, she danced in Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s company ROSAS. She has been touring the world with her own pieces successfully since 2005. Chesterfield is Alix Eynaudi’s second production with the Austrian Museum of Folk Life and Folk Art; one more co-operation is in the stage of planning.
