Once upon a Time in the Flames: Our Firebird Ballet

Between destruction and hope

Choreographer Adam Man, cellist Judith Hamann and Butoh dancer Michiyasu Furutani have repeatedly visited a forest damaged by man-made climate catastrophe. From 11 to 13 December, they will bring Reforest, an artfully designed landscape of texts, videos, sound, dance, language and collected artefacts from ravaged nature, to brut nordwest.

All good things come in threes: on 09 December, Alex Franz Zehetbauer will present his acclaimed concert performance An Evening with for the third and final time at the Breitenseer Lichtspiele cinema. With catchy melodies and clever humour, the host swings between seriousness and absurdity – from poetic lullabies to folk and pop songs.

Artwork Season 2025/26

In the 2025/26 season, we will bid farewell to brut nordwest with Kira Kirsch's final programme. That is why photographers Daniela Trost and Susanna Hofer are focusing on the venue and the grounds at Nordwestbahnhof station and staging it artistically in a new way. Their photographs open up spaces for viewing, shift boundaries and allow the interior and exterior to flow into one another.

The biennial festival presents eleven outstanding productions, including five co-productions by brut Wien, and makes Salzburg the Austrian capital of dance from 20 to 22 November.
