From 08 April to 16 May, Der Betrieb returns with its eighth season: The Season of Narratives. In this durational dance performance, Alexander Gottfarb and his collaborators explore how stories can shape identity and influence behaviour. Yet when a narrative holds too much power, it can silence others. Wed–Sat, 14:00–19:00, free admission.

When the curtain falls

From 28 to 30 April, Frans Poelstra will present his most personal piece at studio brut: THIS MOMENT WITH YOU. In this fragile return to movement, he is torn between his identities as a dancer and an actor and decides to stop hiding behind roles and start being his true self instead – honest, present, alive and charming as ever. And let’s not forget the reunion with Robert Steijn after such a long time, who is taking care of the text and dramaturgy.

Out of control

An abandoned, circular stairwell with a curved staircase is completely filled with sand. The sand covers the steps and forms small dunes throughout the space. Tall windows reveal the dark evening outside, while a single ceiling light casts a warm glow. Peeling walls and railings enhance the quiet, surreal atmosphere.

From 05 to 30 May (previews on 28, 29 & 30 April), DARUM (Victoria Halper & Kai Krösche) will present at brut nordwest their second virtual reality production Auflösung (Dissolution). On this journey, the audience is immersed in a decaying architecture and will experience, what it means to feel vulnerable and in need of a helping hand.

Im_flieger CHANGING SPACES Vienna–Vorarlberg is a national artist-in-residence exchange project for contemporary dance and performance in cooperation with netzwerkTanz Vorarlberg. In addition to working on their own artistic project, encounters and exchanges with local artists are promoted during the 4-week residency in Vorarlberg. The residency is advertised for one project and one person. Deadline: 19 April 2026

Taking the time – Take your time!

On 05 March, we will meet at brut nordwest and, together with Ema Benčíková, Elena Lach, and LIFT Tanzkollektiv, invite you to a moment of slowing down. We will explore how to relax during a festival – in the midst of it, and afterwards. What does your body really need to unwind? Accompanying the event at brut nordwest, we are providing online materials with scores and instructions for relaxation and regulation, so that people who cannot attend in person can still participate.
