Between protest and hedonism

A person stands on a rooftop between several antennas, joyfully raising both arms in the air under a gray open sky.

We’re kicking off the new year with plenty of punch and plenty of laughs: From 14 to 17 January, Stefanie Sourial sets off FLASHMOB, a riotously funny homage to the flash mobs of the 2000s – somewhere between protest, hedonism and spontaneous togetherness. Around the performance on 15 January, join us for an Aperitivo (hosted by Denice Bourbon and Hyo Lee) and an Artist Talk (hosted by Katrin Brehm). On 17 January, we invite blind and visually impaired visitors to a touch tour with Stefanie Sourial, Elena Lach and Wibke Scheler – stage and materials to explore by touch.

More inclusive stages

Several people are sitting or lying relaxed in a room with rugs and mats. One person sits in a deck chair wearing a hoodie, another in a beanbag, and a third leans back on a chair with their head tilted up. The room is bathed in warm purple light, creating a calm, meditative atmosphere.

The first half of January concludes with a special two-day workshop: In Bed with Angela & Claire (16 to 17 January), where Angela Alves and Claire Lefèvre invite you to dive into the practice and philosophy of Relaxed Performance. Through a mix of input, exercises and exchange, they open up new approaches to accessibility as an artistic strategy – for everyone interested in creating more inclusive stage spaces.

Igor Stravinsky with punk

Three performers interact on stage in front of a vivid, colorful backdrop. One crawls on the floor, another pulls them with elastic bands, while a third puts a pair of tights over their head.

For a crowning January finale, Marta Navaridas joins forces with Veza Fernández, Stina Fors, Lau Lukkarila, Maja Osojnik and Denise Palmieri. From 23 to 28 January, they tell – and dance – a modern fairytale of raw energy, confronting ballet discipline, drill and power structures in the dance world as an act of self-empowerment.

Artwork Season 2025/26

In the 2025/26 season, we will bid farewell to brut nordwest with Kira Kirsch's final programme. That is why photographers Daniela Trost and Susanna Hofer are focusing on the venue and the grounds at Nordwestbahnhof station and staging it artistically in a new way. Their photographs open up spaces for viewing, shift boundaries and allow the interior and exterior to flow into one another.
