Die Rabtaldirndln - Female History

“Do you know that feeling when you learning something you didn’t really want to know and then you can’t ever un-know it again?” Expanding their field of operation, Rabtaldirndln now follow a self-entered educational mandate. In a four-module series of lectures, they present four women they fundamentally like, based on their unconventional biographies and sets of values. In this show, Rabtaldirndln are entirely and fully committed to the details of lessons on wholefood, self-empowerment, unlimited love for animals or revenge.

Module 1 – Wholefood featuring Hermine Klein: on the trail of Hermine Klein, a pioneer of the organic diet, whose feminism begins and ends in the kitchen. Rabtaldirndln invite audiences for dinner – and for a culinary lesson: Do we really want to live our lives by the (cook)book?

Module 2 – Unconditional love featuring Edith Klinger: Rabtaldirndln are really good with themselves. And with animals. In this respect, they feel a certain connection to popular TV show host Edith Klinger. But what’s behind this unconditional love for animals? Watch out for the neighbourhood watch!

Module 3 – Inside the head of the Lainz Angels of Death: Rabtaldirndln don’t want to judge, they want to understand. In this lesson, they demonstrate how their dogma – self-determination, autonomy and independence – can be followed even in old age. For nothing is more endless than pain.

Module 4 – Sennentuntschi – Better than Revenge: In the final module, Rabtaldirndln examine shapes and forms of practical revenge, based on the example of Sennentuntschi, a legendary doll built by lonely Alpine herdsmen: “Now you stand in the corner and think about what you did.”

Rabtaldirndln are a Styrian theatre collective that has existed since 2003, developing performances and theatre productions in a permanent configuration of three to five women. They have performed their shows in cities, the countryside and abroad. Most recently, their productions ZIELSICHER and EINKOCHEN won the BESToffSTYRIA main prize (2011, 2014).

Pressestimmen

“The three women who ‘won’t have anybody interfere’ enhance our knowledge and make confessions in witty, original dialogues. … Finally, Barbara Carli, Rosi Degen and Gudrun Maier show their best physical play as they tackle the legendary motif of ‘Sennentuntschi’, a sardonically bizarre revenge discourse more than adequate for the show’s title, ‘Female History’.” Kleine Zeitung
