Interpreters are the voice of asylum seekers in Austria. However, especially for queer refugees, there is great concern that language during interviews with the police, the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum or in court will hurt them again. LGBTIQ refugees wonder whether interpreters have the right vocabulary, are unbiased towards sexual and gender diversity and are silent about the content of the negotiations. The four-hour workshop is aimed at people who work as translators or activists in the field of asylum. It is also open to anyone interested.

The workshop will be held in German and English, maximum number of participants is 30.

With Marty Huber (Queerbase) and Anna Sourdille (Translation Studies Vienna)
