one is inspired by Heinz Gappmayr’s one-word poems, for which he works with signs and letters, numbers or simple graphic elements, frequently the number 1 or one. The two performers play with these elements. They place themselves between words and put movements and works next to and against one another. A live cam records the resulting explanations, transmits the signal onto a screen and thus allows the audience to share the considerations, formulae and calculations. The action becomes an image. Two realities – the theatre and the film reality – are placed alongside one another. They run in parallel, the sensuousness of the dancers collides with the filmic imaginary. The performance area becomes the intersection of physical and virtual reality.
