andcompany&Co. is among the most important political voices in international theatre. Ever since its foundation, the collective has been dedicated to a quite unique way of processing and examining socio-political issues using contemporary devices, partly taken from popular culture. In their most recent work, the group analyses benevolence and charity as a social phenomenon subject to constant change.

Not My revolution, If...: The Stories of Angie O. centres on a fictional activist in the global anti-globalisation movement, who gets involved wherever people gather in loose associations: at the Intergalactic Conference Against Neoliberalism, the Battle in Seattle or Occupy Wall Street. Angie O. has her tent pitched up at borders, on greens and in front of banks to convince bankers as if she was a reborn Joan of Arc: “Service equals loving thy neighbour, a service to your neighbour equals a service to your client”. Clad in the shape of an activist musical, the performance argues out the contradictions of our neoliberal age, where even charity becomes an economic factor and activism and innovative productive asset. Performers from Germany and the Netherland gather on stage to form a peer group asking: What shall we do? What shall we leave? People can only help when there are people there – MERRY CRISIS AND A HAPPY NEW FEAR!

andcompany&Co. are an international collective of artists established in 2003 by Alexander Karschnia, Nicola Nord and Sascha Sulimma in Frankfurt am Main. Acting as co-directors, they form an open network constantly complemented by new artists from various disciplines.

Pressestimmen

"Within their new show, andcompany&Co focus on the contradictions regarding the global protest culture. Self-evidently they don’t engage in straight-lined narrative structures but break out in another discursive direction to destroy the myth of a positive capitalism and an even better society. In the course of this they provide quite a productive chaos and freely adapt an update of Brecht." Berliner Zeitung
