Dariush and Parvaneh Forouhar, the parents of artist/activist Parastour Forouhar, were among Iran’s leading opposition politicians. In 1998, they were murdered, presumably by the Iranian Secret Service. The murders were part of the so-called Chain murders of Iran, which demanded the lives of numerous oppositional intellectuals in the 1990s. Parastour Forouhar has been working in Germany since 1991. Every year, for the anniversary of her parents’ death, she travels to Tehran to take part in events commemorating her murdered parents. For that, the Iranian regime has subjected her to harassment and even part-time imprisonment.
