For his production Formen Formen, choreographer and sculptor Julian Weber gathers a five-member group of artists who have influenced him in recent years from entirely different perspectives: Meg Stuart, Nik Haffner, Peter Pleyer, Claudia Tomasi and Hermann Heisig. Various generations, dance traditions and influences are brought together and correlated on stage.

Julian Weber - Formen Formen

Julian Weber’s sculptures serve as the starting point for the presentation, as he has developed a very personal sculpture for each of the five dancers. Lurking at their homes for several months, they have turned into integral parts of their privacy and their every-day lives – and finally each has inspired a dance. In Shapes Shapes, Julian Weber juxtaposes the material nature of his sculptures with the volatile character of dance, thereby exploring the possibilities of a mutual act of shaping involving humans and objects. By placing his work at the interface between visual arts and dance, Julian Weber plays with the various conventions ruling theatre and exhibition venues and draws from the repertory of different forms of presentation and reception.

Julian Weber studied visual arts, dance and choreography in Berlin. His works for exhibition spaces and theatre venues deal with spaces of interaction involving bodies, objects and movement.
