Everyone knows those agonising moments before a performance: nervously waiting in the foyer, staring helplessly at the programme notes, or enduring endless rounds of small talk. But now those days are over, because brut invites you to arrive together before the performance: Aperitivo is a format for exchanging ideas and immersing yourself in the themes of the evening.
Over drinks and snacks, we talk in a relaxed setting about perspectives and questions that move us in advance. Sometimes guests from the production are present, sometimes external experts who provide content-related input on selected pieces.
Astrid Peterle, curator and author, from October 2025 chief curator at MuseumsQuartier Wien. Previously head of the curatorial department at the Kunsthalle Wien from June 2022 to September 2025. From 2010 to 2022 at the Jewish Museum Vienna, from 2018 to 2022 as chief curator. From 2017 to 2022 curator for performance at the Donaufestival Krems. Studied history and art history in Vienna, Berlin and New York; PhD in 2009; lecturer at the Universities of Graz, Vienna and Salzburg. Curator and author of numerous exhibitions and articles on contemporary art and Viennese cultural history, with a particular focus on performance art, choreography, film, photography and feminist art practice.
