The Handle with Care format invites audiences and colleagues to see initial sketches and talks, opens rehearsal processes and creates room for dialogue and exchange. Artists try out parts of their works in front of a limited audience in order to receive feedback, turning the spectactors into accomplices.

Zoë Schreckenberg und Chris Ludwig, WHERE IS YOUR SISTER

During this year’s imagetanz festival, there will be three editions of Handle with Care: On March 11th and 13th, performer Zoë Schreckenberg and musician Chris Ludwig will show excerpts of their work-in-progress WHERE IS YOUR SISTER. In theirperformance, the two of them work to explore perception and the function of transition phases. Their focus is on the moments between beginning and end and on the transitions that arise, for example, between spaces, conditions, sounds, movements or moods. The sound will be improvised live on stage and developed in immediate association with the movement in space. Another important part of the choreography will be several metres of black cable that bear important symbolism with regard to the topic of transition phases due to their functionality, aesthetics and handling. Cables represent transitions in image composition, contents and movement while at the same time granting the live performance the character of an art installation.

Zoë Schreckenberg is a film-maker, choreographer and dancer. Her work is greatly shaped by her movement training, which primarily consists of contemporary dance (Martin Kilvády, German Jauregui), the “Fighting Monkey Practice” according to Rootlessroot, sparring (Systema) and parkour. Zoë Schreckenberg holds a Bachelor of Arts in theatre, film and media studies from the University of Vienna.

Chris Ludwig is a media artist, musician and electronics engineer. Under the stage name of Jerobeam Fenderson, he has been engaged with OSCILLOSCOPE MUSIC, an audio-visual project involving algorithmic composition and live performance, since 2014. Chris Ludwig studied music computing at Goldsmith University in London as well as electronics and sound engineering at the Graz University of Technology and the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
