Having presented a showing of her own as well as performed in a piece by Anne Juren at former editions of imagetanz, it is now time for choreographer/dancer Sara Lanner to show the world premiere of her new performance at this year’s festival. In Guess What, she analyses ways of taking viewpoints and physically representing them in space while also asking herself how memory and projection affect future physical states.
In her new piece, Sara Lanner continues her artistic work on the body and its existence as a social choreography and sculpture. In remembering and projecting past and future physical states, she creates a performance that makes the simultaneity of multiple physicalities tangible. Guess What asks what the moment in which identity is formed looks like and what kinds of movement qualities can be experienced in it. Most importantly, Sara Lanner deals with that fragile process in which we physically construct identity while never conclusively defining it. As she records supposed limits between individual and collective choreographies, stories unfold anew with the help of those present.
Sara Lanner is a freelance choreographer, dancer and performance artist. She studied contemporary dance and dance education at IDA in Linz. At the moment, she is studying performative art at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna. Sara Lanner is a recipient of the START scholarship of the Austrian Federal Chancellor’s Office and had residencies at Tanzquartier Wien, the Vienna Dance Festival, Lokomotiva Skopje, Uferstudios Berlin and others.
