 
                
                    Barbis Ruder lives and works in Vienna. In 2015, she completed her studies of transmedia art in Brigitte Kowanz’s class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. She is currently devising sculptures between the poles of medical engineering and body techniques as part of her doctorate in artistic research at the same university. Barbis Ruder creates multimedia pieces for both the exhibition space and the stage. Her work has been awarded, among others, the H13 prize for performance of Kunstraum Niederoesterreich (2014), the Art Prize of the Freiburg Archdiocese (2015) and an Honorary Mention of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science, Research and Economy (2015). In 2017, she received a fellowship from Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and the START stipend for media art by the Austrian Federal Chancellor’s Office’s Department of Cultural Affairs.
