Alix Eynaudi Presages, small acts of love

Alix Eynaudi is a dance artist. She welcomes you into a cozy room with pillows, tea, and books. You spend 45 minutes alone with her. First, she explains how the experience will unfold. Then, you choose a question. You write it down. Alix Eynaudi doesn’t know what you asked. She dances. The dance may inspire new thoughts or possible answers. The question itself is revealed only afterwards. Alix Eynaudi chooses books from her library. She reads parts of the books aloud. The dance, the words, and the silence can become answers to the question. No preparation is needed.

This is a séance. You are entering a conversation that was already underway.

Alix Eynaudi invites you into a cozy room; pillows, tea, books, a body ready to move. The work treats prophecy as an embodied practice, listening to gestures, hesitations, and affects as forms of knowledge. Here, prophecy is understood as a way of feeling: to sense the worlds already taking shape around us.

You arrive with a question, something ordinary, uncertain, not yet named. You write it down. It stays between you and the room. Alix Eynaudi doesn’t know what you asked.

Then she dances. Behind the dancing ‘I’, a crowd assembles: fragments and remains, pages turned by other dancers’ feet, other librarians’ hands, other oracles’ tongues. A medium through which what has already been written and danced lingers: l’air du temps. The accidental and the everyday require a prophetic charge. The dance moves through possible answers, lets itself be inhabited by them, brushes against their paradoxes. What emerges is a presage, something felt before it is understood, that leaves a mark before you notice it. An imprint left for others to reinhabit. As Simone Forti wrote: ‘we live to make footholds for each other’.

After the dance the question surfaces. Texts are chosen and read aloud. Words, movements, silence, and the floor that holds the shelves: everything offered becomes a possible response.
