The unambiguous will dismantle itself, and the search for the one and only truth will collapse: In TRANSFIGURED, shape-shifters turn into the Sphinx, Cassandra and other hermaphrodite prophets telling of prophesies, hopes and memories. Using dance, spoken words, song and integrated audio description, the duo Rykena/Jüngst make landscapes tip and create temperatures and atmospheres that transform the bodies.
Performance as oracle: In TRANSFIGURED, Lisa Rykena and Carolin Jüngst create a world out of prophesies, hopes and memories – a world that unfolds in the presence of the audience. In speech and song, they engage in choreographic world-building that is made accessible through integrated audio description. The following will most definitely happen: Meanings in motion will transform into further future stories that overtake and conform themselves. Fragments from narratives of speculative and climate fiction will make landscapes tip. These will create temperatures and weathers that transform the bodies to be expressed and in turn create new atmospheres. After their fantastic performance SHE LEGEND that opened the 2022 imagetanz festival, Lisa Rykena and Carolin Jüngst return to brut with their newest creation.
Rykena/Jüngst have been working together as an artistic duo between the cities of Hamburg and Munich since 2016. Their pieces address queer-feminist, intersectional and ableism-critical body discourses, as well as the transformation of normative categorisations of bodies. Since the onset of their collaboration, they have been comprehensively experimenting with the relationship between body and voice and their ways of commenting and querying one another. Since 2019, their artistic works have been created on a continuous basis with Kampnagel Hamburg and HochX Munich. Rykena/Jüngst’s produktion SHE LEGEND was invited to the 2022 Tanzplattform at HAU/Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin as well as to the FREESPACE Festival, West Kowloon, Hongkong. Also since 2019, the two of them have concerned themselves with participation and accessibility in dance and theatre and artistically included means of creating access such as audio description into their pieces. @rykenajuengst www.rykenajuengst.com
