Julian Weber - the salon # under construction

the salon # under construction is at once workshop, cave, concert, disco, bar and hatchery. Sculptors, musicians and Julian Weber himself as a dancer work in parallel for several hours a day to develop a fluid gesamtkunstwerk “under construction” that changes every minute. Materials like sound and aluminium rods combine to form figurative, architectural sculptures, drawing larger-than-life lines, paths and barriers to allow the volatile power of dance to manifest itself. Julian Weber uses the space around him like a laboratory to dive into physical states over extended periods of time, confronting the material with a piece of movement research inspired by the phenomenon of the disastrous. The audience becomes part of this movement. Free to come and go whenever they like, they get the chance to observe Weber’s process.

Julian Weber studied sculpture at the Braunschweig University of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and dance at the Inter-University Centre for Dance in Berlin. He is currently acquiring his master’s degree in choreography at the Amsterdam School of Arts. His works conceived for exhibition spaces and theatre venues deal with spaces of interaction between bodies, objects and movements.
