Noura Hashem

IZRAA and Noura Hashem invite the audience to a joint Dabke session. Dabke is a traditional Palestinian community dance often performed at festive occasions and gatherings – a powerful expression of solidarity, joy and collective energy.

Selin Baran (she/her) works at the intersection of dance, choreography, and performance. She is currently studying dance pedagogy at the Music and Arts University of the City of Vienna (MUK Vienna) and further developed her choreographic practice during an exchange semester at SNDO in Amsterdam. Her artistic interests include exploring diverse movement possibilities, portraying everyday absurdities, and reflecting on processes of social transformation. She is particularly interested in formats of mediation and engagement that address intersectionality, identity politics, and classism, and that explore new forms of solidarity and collective care. Selin Baran seeks spaces in which playfulness, humor, lightness, and a caring collective are welcomed.

IZRAA (aka Isra Doghman) (she/her)is a singer-songwriter, rapper, voice actress, and activist with roots in Palestine, Lebanon, and Tunisia. She developed her interest in music at an early age and holds a degree in Media Communication with a focus on Film and Digital Production. She is planning to begin her master’s studies in the near future. She is the winner of the FM4 Protestsongcontest 2022 with her anti-racism song 9. November. Her activism and artistic work engage with questions of identity, anti-racism, empowerment, and belonging. Music has always been a central part of her search for identity and self-empowerment.

Noura Hashem (she/her) Palestinian Dabke trainer and cultural mediator based in Vienna, raised in a multicultural environment. Since 2016, she has been leading Dabke classes and workshops for children and adults through her association, Cup of Cultures, and is also a trainer with the Bisan Dabke Gruppe. Her work combines dance with cultural education, community building, and joy of life. A completed youth work training further complements her pedagogical practice. Her goal is to connect people through dance and make intercultural exchange a vivid, lived experience.
