This year, the project Collection of Spectators by the artist Raquel André is the focus of the European Spectators Festival. Raquel's work focuses on the relationship between artistic works and the audience. The artist encourages the participants to reflect on the influence of artistic work on their identity and body:
""Which scene from a film or a play, which paragraph in a book, which work in an exhibition has transformed and touched you? What did you keep in your body from this artistic moment?"
"
At the European Spectators Festival, 15 spectators from 15 different countries will share with the whole world how a work or art experience has shaped and changed them. Our active spectators from BEATE are also involved in the project. Everyone can participate and share their own experiences and feelings during the entire event via chat function. The online festival will be broadcast on all platforms of collectionofspectators.com and here on brut-wien.at
The project includes the creation of a participatory bilingual website that builds up an archive of spectators and their experiences with art. The project has the experience of the spectators at the center, giving voice to their narratives and artistic contributions. From the 26th of October 2020 it’s possible to participate, answering to the instructions launched by Raquel. Everyone is invited to participate, feeding this way a website that becomes a live archive in progress. Here are the instructions. In our magazine articles you will find the individual tasks to participate.
