For everything is in everything – Corps de Ballet, choreographer/dancer Elizabeth Ward and techno producer AC/Boy bring a dark balletic atmosphere to brut. Evoking the raw energy at the heart of techno and ballet, Ward and AC/Boy illuminate the formal precision, esprit de corps and collectivism that unite both ballet and techno.

Performers with different backgrounds in dance, performance and sports meet on stage to investigate the dancing social body. Supported by the live concert's hard synthesizers and breaking beats, the dancers play with unifying elements other than strict conformity. A dense technoid corps de ballet ensues, releasing brute, imaginative energies.

The Vienna-based electronic music producer AC/Boy and choreographer/dancer Elizabeth Ward, from New York, have cooperated in Vienna since 2014. In their previous work, like in the Corps de Ballet, they combined techno music with ballet while referencing medieval dancing manias and historic dances such as Robert le Diable (1831), La Sylphide(1832) and Steve Paxton’s Goldberg Variations (1986). As a duet they have been presented through WUK, Vienna, The Kitchen, New York, Trinosopes, Detroit, ANA, Copenhagen and supported with Bain Connective, Brussels and ImPulsTanz/Turbo, Vienna residencies.

Pressestimmen

“Influenced by the disparate lineages of classical ballet, postmodern dance the emmerged from New York’s Judson Church, and contemporary conceptual dance, Elizabeth aims to amalgamate a dance practice that is rooted in the intelligence of the dancing body passed down through western dance training without blindly reproducing elements of disciplinary control historically embodied in it.” Franz Magazine

Party with DJ set by Posmrtny & AC/Boy following the performance on 5 November!
