Huggy Bears, an initiative by Superamas, continues into its second year of existence in 2017. Again, Vienna-based artists, who are at the beginning of their career and whose projects receive support from the initiative, present their works and initial approaches for the first time at the imagetanz festival.

Superamas - Huggy Bears

“Our motto is: Be flexible and adaptable. We help you in administrative, production-related and artistic matters using the generous support and help of our network partners in Vienna.” This way, Superamas want to create an environment in which the artistic substance of a project is not subordinate to production and research conditions such as the acquisition of production means. The projects as such are supposed to come first, the programme does not want to rigidly dictate forms of presentation or research conditions but be open to changing and advancing as the project does. With creative processes being accompanied by enough restraints and limitations, Huggy Bears simply wants to create a framework for creative work and be there for its artists together with its fellow networkers in Vienna.

Huggy Bears – the Beginning is an initial meeting and presentation of the artists the initiative is accompanying in 2017. All artists will be present to introduce their projects or approaches in different ways. Come give a hug to the young art!

Huggy Bears artists in 2017: Malika Fankha with Let’s keep it open, Matan Levkowich with War and Love, Maiko Sakurai and Cat Jimenez with PI – episode 3.
