Dear Sophia,

As I enter the space, I see you already in a certain state of mind.

Your image is being projected on the back wall and it feels like the moment before something is about to happen has been frozen.

The double image of yourself already questions what’s real, what’s virtual.

The situation is very clear. The white floor with two extended stations. The oil. Your body. The costume. The tension is already there.

The clarity in the setting provides a certain security. What will happen next then?

As you begin to move and slide through the space it pulls me into another dimension. The time is being manipulated. The dynamic that is being created in the space triggers curiosity and sets the mood. Dense and elastic.

It’s like an invitation to a journey that’s about to begin.

The persistence of your feet keeps us moving. Keeps us moving.

Where are we going? When will we get there? How long is going to take?

At certain point I accept the idea that it might take a while. That’s the mood. The repetition in your movements and the pattern in the space keeps on establishing the rhythm of the journey.

Your face glows. Your face glows.

The intensity in your eyes keeps me with you. The music grows and it takes us to the next step.

What am I supposed to feel now?

I take a second to think about how I’d feel being in your position, being in that mood. What does the sliding feel like? Would I be able to slide so smoothly?

I find myself in a space in between. A witness and someone who’s being a part of it. Being affected by what’s being presented.

What about persistence? You seem so into it and don’t seem to bother with entertaining us or the need to get out of it.  Keep on sliding. Keep on sliding.

When your second portrait appears it’s like a short breeze. It gives me the chance to get out of a more hypnotic state and allows me to have a different perspective of you. It is like getting inside your head. Inside your mood. Strong, intense and vulnerable at the same time. Very touching I must say. It is when you become human again somehow.  Exposed.

And then again. You disappear behind a mask. Your face is absent but your body behaves in a more relatable way. Perhaps because of your poses, gestures and resting positions.

Who are you now? Did I miss something? I guess that’s when I get to do some work.

I left the performance in a place of in between. In an unknown mood. Was I making myself available to the illusion of change, hoping for the ultimate glowing experience?

Thank you for glowing. Thank you for glowing.

Hugs,

Evandro.
