In the light of heated discussions about safety and security in times of terror, the performance collective FOURDUMMIES enters the fray on the issue of “safety in Vienna” and sets out to find “Vienna’s safest places”. Be they private bunkers, deer stands or the waiting area of the Social Security Institution, these safety researchers follow every track, asking: What is actually safe about these places? FOURDUMMIES will embark on an expedition tour in Vienna and search for the presumably lowest-risk places of the city. All materials will be arranged in a kind of panopticum at brut. Please write to fourdummies@gmx.at in case you have suggestions for save places in Vienna. The artists also can come to the suggested place to investigate further.
In 2013, the artists Waltraud Brauner, Peter Baur and Georg Klüver-Pfandtner invented the fictitious collective FOURDUMMIES and its alleged 20-year collaboration. So far, the collective has completed the project Image Recovery FOURDUMMIES at the 2014 imagetanz festival at brut and was then invited to show the retrospective emerging from it at Fotogalerie Wien. They have also travelled to Graz, Leoben and Vordernberg in Styria with their commissioned work Flash Forward – A photolab for things to come.
