Summer is over, the theatre doors are open again – time for a shared season kick-off! Together with Katharina Senk / Senki and Theresa Scheinecker / Ray, we invite you to the workshop Move to the Beat – Stay for the Curry. After a movement workshop – this time also highlighting performative work with the voice – everyone is invited to share a meal together. Over drinks and delicious curry, we’ll look at the upcoming highlights at brut Wien.

The workshop is aimed at blind and visually impaired people. Whether you have been to brut before or are joining us for the first time – everyone is warmly welcome who wants to dive into the world of contemporary performance art or deepen their knowledge. Through playful and creative approaches, Ray and Senki will guide improvisation exercises and short movement sequences.

Afterwards, there will be time to relax and chat: the brut Wien team invites you to a cosy get-together over curry.

Katharina Senk / Senki (she/her) lives as a white, female, non-disabled dance artist in Vienna. She has performed in works by Doris Uhlich, Florentina Holzinger, Sara Ostertag, Georg Blaschke, and Michael Turinsky, among others. Her own works and collaborations have been shown nationally and internationally. Senki loves interdisciplinary work, when dance, music, theatre, and performance embrace each other and invite the audience to be part of that embrace. Together with Maartje Pasman, Senki runs the association tanz.sucht.theater – where, in collaboration with many important companions, exciting projects have emerged over the past years that consider access on many levels. Since the end of 2022, Senki has been dedicated to artistic audio description. www.katharinasenk.com

Theresa Scheinecker / Ray (she/her) lives as a performer in Vienna. In 2022, Ray was part of PARASOL (TQW) and received the danceWEB scholarship as part of ImPulsTanz. Ray has performed for Ian Kaler, Alix Eynaudi, Michael Turinsky, Silke Grabinger, and Annie Hanauer/beweggrund Bern, among others. Her movement language is shaped by practices of hip-hop culture, acrobatics, and contemporary dance. In recent years, Ray has increasingly used her lived experience as a visually impaired person to raise awareness in the arts that visual perception is only one of many layers addressed in theatre. Diversity of perception and the field of creative audio description are currently the focus of her research. Her main goal is to increase accessibility for blind and visually impaired audiences in the world of performance and dance.
