What is real? What is fake? Deep Fake, gergo d. farkas’ first choreographic work from 2021, takes us into a world between virtual and authentic reality. A black-humoured and melancholic swan song to the end of the Anthropocene.
A lonely hybrid being between human and avatar moves to eerie music and enters into a tender relationship with a mysterious object called Grid. The contours of the living become blurred in this strange, flickering environment.
Accompanied by Márton Csernovszky’s uncanny music, gergo d. farkas takes us into a world in which light, sound, movement, human and non-human matter form a living and pulsating entity. In search of new possibilities of coexistence, the performance explores the question: How can we get the human gaze to be a little less anthropocentric?
Deep Fake toured internationally as part of the Aerowaves Twenty22 selection and was shown at the Zürcher Theater Spektakel (CH), the Dansehallerne (DK) and the Trafó House of Contemporary Arts (HU), among others. Deep Fake expands into the virtual world at deep-fake.world.
