As part of brut’s Handle with Care series in co-operation with LE STUDIO Film und Bühne c/o Studio Molière, Susanne Songi Griem and Frederik Marroquín jointly invite audiences to see their work in progress. Fish and Swan in Negligee is part of their research, a stroll through their Library of Unfinished Memories. Visitors will see a room full of memorabilia such as a semi-transparent folding-screen, a sneaker or a mechanical canary: all things the performers fold, move around or lie down in. In series of movements and songs, Fish and Swan in Negligee tells humorous tales of alienation, radical remembering and the curiosity for the mundane. In their work in progress, the performers focus on developing their voices and making their outlines appear and disappear through the objects by moving on the edge of shared and individual inner time.
Snails danced three weeks ago on
the Southeast Expressway to Yaeji.
For two minutes and fifty-six seconds
we both yowled,
just before the sloth emptied that bucket of car paint over them.
Inside the glove compartment, a fish in negligee
is singing ballads to the city.
Further in the front, you sit on the right
hurt by my sophisticated text,
Two metres behind, he pops the cylinder with ready-bake croissants
& one shelf below, they all sit
watching the branches in front of the wall painted blue.
