Elisabeth Löffler, together with Frans Poelstra and Yosi Wanunu, invites audiences to join her on a humorous journey into her childhood. Her sit-down comedy Fix Me If You Can tells the story of a family in search of a miracle, a family that does everything it can to achieve a better future for their child – a future on two legs. At the same time, it is the story of a child in pursuit of its very own mission in the name of god and love, supported by its personal painkiller, crooner Udo Jürgens.
Here’s a repair manual for a person with a disability: Start by denying them a wheelchair and telling them to walk. If that doesn’t get you the desired result, try praying and do so, if necessary, with increasing frequency and growing intensity. If that doesn’t work either, strap their legs to braces and stretch them until they have reached the adequate extent of straightness for a relaxed walk in the park. Should all these measures remain ineffective, travel to Lourdes, a small town in the south of France. When you get there, throw the person into sacred water and rely on the spiritual liquid to do the rest. In the event of continued non-curation, try repeating the same procedure the next year.
