Andrea Amort studied classical and modern dance as well as theater studies. She is a dance critic, dramaturge, and curator, working on topics including dance and exile and dance heritage. She has directed festivals including Beyond the Waltz in Washington 2006, Touches: Dance Before 1938 – Dance of Today at the Odeon in 2008, created dance projects such as Hanna Berger: Retouchings, and curated two exhibitions at the Theatermuseum Wien in 2019–2020: Alles tanzt. Kosmos Wiener Tanzmoderne (Hatje Cantz) and Die Spitze tanzt. 150 Years of Ballet at the Vienna State Opera. She has also published widely. In 2021 the programme Kosmos Wiener Tanzmoderne was shown at the festival ImPulsTanz.
