From 04 to 28 March 2026, the imagetanz festival will present new positions in choreography and performance. The festival offers a diverse programme with world premieres, workshops, and much more. There is a special focus on accessible formats such as Touch and Tell Tours, Scent Buffets, and get togethers. With LIFT Tanzkollektiv (Liv Schellander, Irene Giró, Fia/Sophia Neises, Tanja Erhart), Cat Jimenez, Maartje Pasman, Ray Scheinecker, Katharina Senk / Senki, Carolina Cappelli, gergő d. farkas, Elena Lach, Ema Bencikova, and many more.

Inside the shell of grief

Performer Cat Jimenez lies on their side in a dark, misty space, propped up on one arm while the other hand touches the reflective water surface; their long dark hair falls forward and a bright glow in the upper left floods the scene, making body and water softly shimmer.

From 10 to 13 March, Cat Jimenez invites you to studio brut to join her very personal grieving journey in the dance solo ruins of a shell. With her piece, she looks at grief, in every shape, through the lens of a shell, as a symbol of her childhood. As she questions the established European grieving practices, Cat Jimenez explores new rituals to accept the fact that life is constantly changing.

Celebrating Culture together

On 13 March, Selin Baran will host the workshop marhaba مرحبا at brut, as part of the Academy of Unlearning by kulturen in bewegung. This community event – with IZRAA, Noura Hashem, Anahita Neghabat and Khashajar Hani – will be an opportunity to share a moment of connection and to celebrate Arab culture with a communal Ramadan fast-breaking followed by a Dabke session.

Taking the time – Take your time!

On 05 March, we will meet at brut nordwest and, together with Ema Benčíková, Elena Lach, and LIFT Tanzkollektiv, invite you to a moment of slowing down. We will explore how to relax during a festival – in the midst of it, and afterwards. What does your body really need to unwind? Accompanying the event at brut nordwest, we are providing online materials with scores and instructions for relaxation and regulation, so that people who cannot attend in person can still participate.

imagetanz 2026 – Art Work

The motifs for this year's imagetanz Art Works were created by Robin Lopvet, a visual artist and multimedia photographer based in Paris. He transforms retouching, collages and digital montages into striking visual worlds that combine fashion, web culture and art history. With a great deal of humour, he creates visual fictions that comment on the flood of images in our time.
