Come join BEATE, the audience club at brut

BEATE accompanies rehearsals and creative processes of projects, creates dialogue with artists and takes part in brut's program decisions.

BEATE is short for
BRUT’S ENGAGED AUDIENCE as THEATRE EXPERTS – might sound complicated, but is actually pretty simple:

In the frame of the audience club BEATE a group of engaged brut visitors is assigned a very central role: you will have the opportunity to devise specific events for the brut-programme, to select artists for residencies and to create content for the online magazine.

During regular meetings over the whole season we will visit rehearsals, showings and performances together, discuss and reflect about them, have talks with artists and experts and conceive workshops.

As an active participant of the audience club BEATE you will gain profound insight in artistic and organizational processes and you will become a group of experts, who enrich the diverse programme of brut with new perspectives.

  • Meetings from October bi-weekly in the evening.

  • 1st meeting followed by a writing workshop expected to be October 3rd or 4th in the afternoon.

  • Basically, everyone can apply who is interested in a collaborative, intensive exchange and in working committed on the programme, and who is willing to actively take part in the group meetings on a regular basis. In particular the open call is addressed to students of all disciplines and artists starting out in their profession.
  • Please send a short bio and letter of motivation (ca. 2000 characters) about why you want to take part in the audience club BEATE and in what way the participation would be relevant or enriching for you and your own research, education or practice.
  • Please send your application until September 23rd only via mail to

The participation is free. Tickets for events are free or heavily discounted.

The audience club BEATE is an initiative in the frame of Be SpectACTive!
Be SpectACTive! is a large-scale European cooperation project – co-funded by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union – which operates in performing arts through artistic productions and participatory practices aimed at involving the citizens and spectators in creative and organizative processes. Its members are European festivals, theatres, cultural organisations, universities and a research center.
