one is inspired by Heinz Gappmayr’s one-word poems, for which he works with signs and letters, numbers or simple graphic elements, frequently the number 1 or one. The two performers play with these elements. They place themselves between words and put movements and works next to and against one another. A live cam records the resulting explanations, transmits the signal onto a screen and thus allows the audience to share the considerations, formulae and calculations. The action becomes an image. Two realities – the theatre and the film reality – are placed alongside one another. They run in parallel, the sensuousness of the dancers collides with the filmic imaginary. The performance area becomes the intersection of physical and virtual reality.

Vienna/Austria based CIE. WILLI DORNER was founded by Willi Dorner in 1999. Besides his international touring dance performances Willi Dorner is keen on creating events that give the audience the opportunity for new experiences, insights and a different perception of every day’s life. His interdisciplinary works are developed in cooperation with artists and scientists of different fields. His work was invited to festivals and venues like Wiener Festwochen, Wien Modern, Musica Strasbourg, Biennale de Danse du Val-de-Marne, Festival de Marseille, FTA - Festival TransAmériques Montreal, Dance Umbrella London, Springdance Utrecht, Tanz im August Berlin, Theater der Welt Essen, Crossing the Lines New York and b:om South Korea.

Willi Dorner lives and works as a choreographer in Vienna. Alongside work on plays and site-specific performances that have been performed world-wide, his artistic work includes an interest in photography, film, animation and installations. Together with the photographer Lisa Rastl, before 2015 he published the illustrated book bodies in urban spaces on the eponymous performance. In collaboration with various Austrian film-makers he has produced several short films, i.a. body trail (2009), set in motion (2012) and every-one (2015). As well as being awarded the 2000 Austrian Dance Production Prize, Willi Dorner has been honoured for his choreographic work at several international choreography competitions. In 2011 he was awarded the Blaulaut Prize for Interdisciplinary Art from Koïnzi-Dance Hamburg for the installation work bodies in urban spaces. He has received prizes for his film works from the Pearls 07 – International Dance Film Festival Berlin and the 2009 Choreographic Captures – Munich Film Festival.

In April, Tanzquartier Wien and brut join forces for FEEDBACK and present a common selection of dance and performances made in Austria. International curators as well as the local audience can get an overview over current productions from the free dance and performance scene and discover quite some insider tips from the perspective of Tanzquartier Wien and brut.
