On occasion of his cycle DOG_men, performer Daniel Aschwanden presents a lecture performance with artist Herwig Turk and molecular biologist and artist Tanja Gesell at the department of Cross-Disciplinary Strategies in the University for Applied Art. They are searching for a terminology, narrative structures and ways of making the immune system visible as well as the speculative difference in the relation between dogs and humans towards it.
The lecture performance revolves around the relationship between artistic perspective on science and the scientific approach to artistic practice. The artists ask themselves if a change in terminology would lead to a shift in perception. Also, they look into methods of presenting research results in a performative way, producing a surplus of knowledge.
Aschwanden, Turk and Gesell develop a dramaturgy for test arrangement No. 1 which transforms the architectural spaces at the department of Cross-Disciplinary Strategies into image booths which they use for their stationary theatre approach. Thus, they draw new poetic connections and translations between every-day perspectives, scientific results and artistic interventions.
